In our project, we are examining the therapeutic potential of epigenetic enzymes, in particular of so-called «reader» proteins in rheumatoid arthritis. "Reader" proteins and central regulators which determine, which genes will be activated at what time. Die inhibition of epigenetic enzymes is a promising approach future approach towards new therapies for rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory diseases. Studies to identify target genes and possible undesirable side effects are therefore essential to assess their therapeutic potential.
